baby rose bush

OHH about three years ago I was continually "reminding" (AKA begging) my new fiancé to get me random flowers. Now I am not talking about calling a flower shop and spending a $100 on a very small bouquet. I just wanted him to go to Target and get one of those $10 ones and surprising me with flowers! Flowers have always been something that brightens my day. I just seriously love them so much. People can say all they want that they are a waste of money but I am a firm believer in flower giving!!!!

So anyways one day I get home from school and to my surprise he had finally caught a hint and went to Albertson's and got me flowers   ... okay not exactly pretty flowers but more like a baby rose bush! It was the funniest, sweetest, cutest, most amazing thing ever. He thought this was better than flowers because it will live longer and I sure couldn't say anything because he was so happy. Sadly we lived in an apartment with hardly any sunlight and my tiny baby rose bush only lasted a couple of weeks before we had to throw it in the dumpster.

Now a days the hubby is very good with the flower giving. He even splurges and gets the flower shop kind on special occasions but my fav are still the Target ones. Since he isn't home to just surprise me on random days he has taken to saying while we are at the grocery store on the weekends "Hey... Go pick out your favorite flowers" and then gives me a little winky wink ;)

SO this weekend we went to Fresh Market for the first time (I know it seems crazy but I always thought it was this super expensive over priced place) and let me just say UUUHHHHMAZINGGGG!!! I just loved it so much! So many healthy fruits and veggies... and pretty flowers!! So hubby did his thang and walked over to the flowers and what do you know they had baby rose bushes!! I just knew I had to get one! And since the prices were so reasonable we got a small daisy bouquet and a baby rose bush!!! I was in heaven. When we got home I already had a pot to put my rose bush in (I found it at Michael's for $1.50 and knew I would use it one day) and I put my daisies in a vase and wrapped a little burlap ribbon around it to spruce them up a little!!!!

This experience brought back so many special memories of dating and just moving in together and starting the "adult" life. I love my husband so extremely much and all of the cute little things he does to show his love.

Now lets just hope I can keep this rose bush alive!!! ;)

We bought a HOUSE!!!!!

WELL....
Two weeks ago today James and I officially became homeowners!!!!! It was such an amazing day for both of us. This is something we never thought we would be able to do and we definitely did not think we would be able to do it at 21 years old. This was just the perfect house for us and everything worked out in our favor. God truly blessed us with this amazing house.

♥ judah ♥

We had another amazing and eventful weekend but the best part was Saturday when we went to Zachary to visit our new baby nephew again. He is so absolutely beautiful and perfect in every single way. From the first day we saw him we were instantly in love and have been dying to go back and see him again. We got to spend our time cuddling with him and catching up with his mommy and daddy. James and I both love him so much and we already miss him so much. I wish we lived closer and could see him every single day!!! His parents are so lucky, he is such a good baby. He barely cried and he was so alert! He is just amazing!

one year of marriage

On Monday May 28, 2012 James and I celebrated our one year anniversary!!! I seriously can't believe how fast this year went by. It was filled with so many amazing moments and some not so amazing moments but this year has taught me so much about myself and my husband. We have grown as individuals and as a couple and we are in such an amazing place in our life right now. We love and appreciate each other so much and look forward to spending the rest of our lives together. We have so much to look forward to and are so excited to be going through this journey together.

So we spent the entire weekend together and we had so much fun! We had a fish/shrimp/anything that could possibly be fried fry on friday night with my maw maw and poppy and it was OH SO AMAZING!!! On Saturday some of our friends had a BBQ so we went there for a while and had fun just hanging out and watching their little baby Jax play in the kiddie pool. After that we spent the afternoon running errands and hanging out together. On Sunday we woke up and went to brunch together to celebrate our anniversary. We have heard a lot about a local restaurant's brunch on Sunday morning and finally decided to bite the bullet and go. And let me just say OMG SO GOOD!!!!!! We got to sit outside in the courtyard area by ourselves and it was so nice. They have so much food and everything looks so good. We filled three and a half plates and headed back to our spot to dig in! We also enjoyed Mimosas and with the food. We had such an amazing time and made so many awesome memories. After we finished brunch we headed home for the afternoon. We then had another family event that evening my grandfather cooked for the family Sunday evening so we went over to his house and ate AGAIN!!!! And of course it was amazing!!!! James and I just kept looking at each other and saying "How can we fit anything else in our belly's?" Monday was our actual anniversary so we wanted to chill out all day so we headed to my grandfather's house again and laid out by the pool all day. It was just the two of us and so nice to just relax after such an eventful weekend. The best part of the day was when I got a phone call from a florist telling me they where going to be delivering flowers to me and needed to know where I was at. I was totally surprised!! I had no clue he had ordered flowers. I love fresh flowers. I know a lot of people think they are a waste of money but it is something that I just love. I feel like flowers just make the day so much better and they cheer me up! So to finish up our amazing anniversary we took out the top layer of our wedding cake and did the traditional one year thing and ate our wedding cake. It was so cute and fun to just think back to our wedding day and talk about our favorite moments. We also decided that we wanted to do the traditional presents too. For weeks both of us have been trying to think of the perfect "paper" present. And I think we both did a great job. I made James a map of the United States and put buttons on all of the places we have gone together. We sadly haven't been very many places together but in the next 60+ years of our marriage we plan to see the world together. I got the idea from the handy-dandy Pinterest. I had so much fun making this present and it meant so much to me. It is definitely not perfect and there are a few mistakes but I made it and it made me so proud to give it to him. He loved it!! He on the other hand gave me a book of love coupons. He spent time looking for the perfect coupons and they are so sweet. a few of my favorites are breakfast in bed, one hour massage, and changing the channel when sports or man shows are on!!! We both put a lot of love and thought into our presents and they were both so sweet!

So that was our awesome anniversary weekend! We spent most of our weekend eating tons of amazing food and just had so much fun!!

XOXO

James' 21st Birthday Weekend!

Last Thursday was my husband's 21st birthday!!! Sadly he was in Shreveport for his actual birthday and did not come home until Friday afternoon, but that was not going to stop me from making a big deal over it. He is not the kind of person that wants the attention on himself and so it is really hard to get him to agree to anything honoring himself but luckily I got him to agree to a small dinner with a few friends and family. One of his favorite places is a Japanese restaurant called Tokyo Live, so I made reservations and we had dinner there Friday night.
My hubby LOVES cupcakes and LOVES red velvet, so I ordered cupcakes from a cupcake shop in town. Since it was his 21st birthday I went with a Jack Daniels theme (His favorite type of liquor). The cupcakes came out so freaking cute!!! He loved them!!!!
This year for birthdays we decided not to do big presents so I went to Walgreens and picked the cutest, most thoughtful card I could find and got him a bottle of Jack Daniels! It wasn't a lot but I think he really loved the card and of course he LOVED the Jack.

On Saturday we were lazy all day. We slept late then went to lunch at a new restaurant in town and went to his parents house to visit for a little while. While we were there we looked at a lot of old childhood pictures of James and laughed about how much he has changed! There were even some of me as a child! We skipped over those very fast ;)

Sunday morning James got up and made coffee and biscuits for my grandmother and I. He said I am a puppy mommy so I got special treatment too! I just love him so much!!! After laying around all morning I got up and cooked a big pot of spaghetti for James to take to Shreveport this week and then we found out he got to stay for another night!! I was so excited!!! Normally he leaves on Sunday at 4 but they decided to leave early Monday morning since it was Mother's Day. So we relaxed all afternoon then headed to Coyote Blues with my family for dinner.

Overall this weekend was busy but nice. I had a really bad week last week and having my husband home was exactly what I needed. I already miss him so much and can't wait for Friday afternoon to see him again. This weekend will be probably be just as busy but as long as we are together it will be fine!!

a wedding and a birth

Hello!!!
This weekend has been quite eventful. I was a bridesmaid in my friend Rebecca's wedding AND our first nephew was born!

We spent Friday night and all day Saturday with the new couple. Friday was the rehearsal dinner, which was so cute! The grooms family held the dinner in the church hall and turned it into an italian restaurant. They served salad, spaghetti, garlic bread, and yummy deserts. It was so cute and personal.

On Saturday we did the whole wedding thing. Hair, make-up, etc. It was fun to be apart of a wedding and not be the bride. The wedding was beautiful and the couple looked so happy and in love.

Also Saturday was my sister-in-law's due date, which normally doesn't mean much because no one ever goes into labor on their due date, Right?? Well at 7am Saturday morning Jenny called to say her water had broken and she was in labor!!! We were totally shocked. And unfortunately we had the wedding and couldn't be at the hospital to help welcome our nephew into this amazing world. But let me tell you we were so excited and could not wait until today to head to Baton Rouge to see him. His poor mommy was in labor for 12 hours but at 6:18pm Judah Lee Gilbert made his arrival. He was 7 pounds 13 ounces and 18 1/2 inches long. He is absolutely beautiful and perfect in every way. We woke up at 6 am this morning and headed to Baton Rouge. We were just so excited we could not contain it! As soon as we got there we were able to hold him and love on him and the best part was that it was still early and it was just us and his parents in the room so we got plenty of time to enjoy our nephew! Unfortunately we had to leave at 12 to head home so James could get ready to leave for the week. We are so happy to have a new baby in the family and are so ready to spoil him rotten! I am already ready to go see him again!!

The cutie himself!!
How gorgeous is he?!?!

Our weekend was amazing and eventful but now it is time to hit the books because it is FINALS WEEK!
I am so excited to be finished with this semester on Wednesday! This has been so long of a semester and I am ready for a break.
