one year of marriage

On Monday May 28, 2012 James and I celebrated our one year anniversary!!! I seriously can't believe how fast this year went by. It was filled with so many amazing moments and some not so amazing moments but this year has taught me so much about myself and my husband. We have grown as individuals and as a couple and we are in such an amazing place in our life right now. We love and appreciate each other so much and look forward to spending the rest of our lives together. We have so much to look forward to and are so excited to be going through this journey together.

So we spent the entire weekend together and we had so much fun! We had a fish/shrimp/anything that could possibly be fried fry on friday night with my maw maw and poppy and it was OH SO AMAZING!!! On Saturday some of our friends had a BBQ so we went there for a while and had fun just hanging out and watching their little baby Jax play in the kiddie pool. After that we spent the afternoon running errands and hanging out together. On Sunday we woke up and went to brunch together to celebrate our anniversary. We have heard a lot about a local restaurant's brunch on Sunday morning and finally decided to bite the bullet and go. And let me just say OMG SO GOOD!!!!!! We got to sit outside in the courtyard area by ourselves and it was so nice. They have so much food and everything looks so good. We filled three and a half plates and headed back to our spot to dig in! We also enjoyed Mimosas and with the food. We had such an amazing time and made so many awesome memories. After we finished brunch we headed home for the afternoon. We then had another family event that evening my grandfather cooked for the family Sunday evening so we went over to his house and ate AGAIN!!!! And of course it was amazing!!!! James and I just kept looking at each other and saying "How can we fit anything else in our belly's?" Monday was our actual anniversary so we wanted to chill out all day so we headed to my grandfather's house again and laid out by the pool all day. It was just the two of us and so nice to just relax after such an eventful weekend. The best part of the day was when I got a phone call from a florist telling me they where going to be delivering flowers to me and needed to know where I was at. I was totally surprised!! I had no clue he had ordered flowers. I love fresh flowers. I know a lot of people think they are a waste of money but it is something that I just love. I feel like flowers just make the day so much better and they cheer me up! So to finish up our amazing anniversary we took out the top layer of our wedding cake and did the traditional one year thing and ate our wedding cake. It was so cute and fun to just think back to our wedding day and talk about our favorite moments. We also decided that we wanted to do the traditional presents too. For weeks both of us have been trying to think of the perfect "paper" present. And I think we both did a great job. I made James a map of the United States and put buttons on all of the places we have gone together. We sadly haven't been very many places together but in the next 60+ years of our marriage we plan to see the world together. I got the idea from the handy-dandy Pinterest. I had so much fun making this present and it meant so much to me. It is definitely not perfect and there are a few mistakes but I made it and it made me so proud to give it to him. He loved it!! He on the other hand gave me a book of love coupons. He spent time looking for the perfect coupons and they are so sweet. a few of my favorites are breakfast in bed, one hour massage, and changing the channel when sports or man shows are on!!! We both put a lot of love and thought into our presents and they were both so sweet!

So that was our awesome anniversary weekend! We spent most of our weekend eating tons of amazing food and just had so much fun!!

XOXO

James' 21st Birthday Weekend!

Last Thursday was my husband's 21st birthday!!! Sadly he was in Shreveport for his actual birthday and did not come home until Friday afternoon, but that was not going to stop me from making a big deal over it. He is not the kind of person that wants the attention on himself and so it is really hard to get him to agree to anything honoring himself but luckily I got him to agree to a small dinner with a few friends and family. One of his favorite places is a Japanese restaurant called Tokyo Live, so I made reservations and we had dinner there Friday night.
My hubby LOVES cupcakes and LOVES red velvet, so I ordered cupcakes from a cupcake shop in town. Since it was his 21st birthday I went with a Jack Daniels theme (His favorite type of liquor). The cupcakes came out so freaking cute!!! He loved them!!!!
This year for birthdays we decided not to do big presents so I went to Walgreens and picked the cutest, most thoughtful card I could find and got him a bottle of Jack Daniels! It wasn't a lot but I think he really loved the card and of course he LOVED the Jack.

On Saturday we were lazy all day. We slept late then went to lunch at a new restaurant in town and went to his parents house to visit for a little while. While we were there we looked at a lot of old childhood pictures of James and laughed about how much he has changed! There were even some of me as a child! We skipped over those very fast ;)

Sunday morning James got up and made coffee and biscuits for my grandmother and I. He said I am a puppy mommy so I got special treatment too! I just love him so much!!! After laying around all morning I got up and cooked a big pot of spaghetti for James to take to Shreveport this week and then we found out he got to stay for another night!! I was so excited!!! Normally he leaves on Sunday at 4 but they decided to leave early Monday morning since it was Mother's Day. So we relaxed all afternoon then headed to Coyote Blues with my family for dinner.

Overall this weekend was busy but nice. I had a really bad week last week and having my husband home was exactly what I needed. I already miss him so much and can't wait for Friday afternoon to see him again. This weekend will be probably be just as busy but as long as we are together it will be fine!!
