cooper (6 months old)

We are super behind on our monthly updates since Cooper will be 8 months next week but trying to catch up on my week off!
6 months as of 2/27/2014

Weight: 18 lb

Sleeping: Still great. He goes down for the night around 7-7:30 and wakes up between 5:30-6 everyday. He takes 2 naps most days but sometimes there is a third one. He is finally sleeping in his bed at night. This was all my fault! I couldn't let go of having him right by me and hubby finally made me put him in his bed! He, of course, did perfectly fine and didn't seem to even notice but I still wake up 20 times during the night and stare at the monitor.

Eating: He is such a great eater! He has now tried green beans, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, butternut squash,   bananas, apples, and pears. He eats oatmeal for breakfast and puree for lunch and dinner! He has about 4 bottles a day depending on how he feels. He always has a 6am bottle and 6:30 pm bottle but the mid-morning and afternoon bottles kind of just depend on his mood and if he wants them.

Firsts: lots of new foods, sleeping in his bed at night, getting up on all fours

Liking: mama and daddy, tv, iPad, Sophie the teething giraffe, jumperoo, high chair, bed, Aden and Anais blankets, bath time, dogs, high chair toys, walker

Disliking: peas, when mom has to get boogies out of his nose, being alone, sleeping on his back

iPhone dump:
aren't baby sneezes the cutest?!
Coop had the best valentine ever this year!

cooper (5 months old)

5 months as of 1/27/14

Weight: 17 lb
Height: 27 in.

Sleeping: Still great. He goes down for the night around 7-7:30 and wakes up between 5:30-6 everyday. He takes 2 naps most days but sometimes there is a third one. His naps are normally 2.5-3 hours so basically he sleeps most of the day still!! Silly boy loves his sleep!

Eating: We have officially joined the baby food eating club! He has had green beans and sweet potatoes. The first one we tried was green beans. It was hilarious watching him eat for the first time. He was so confused and did not like it one bit. By day four he was tolerating it but still not sure and then we gave him sweet potatoes and the process started all over again. The green beans he had were store bought because my first baby food making experience was a fail and I temporarily gave up, but I decided to give it another try with the blender instead of food processor and it worked SO much better. Now I am totally addicted to making his food. It is healthier and so much cheaper and this lady is always looking for a way to save a buck. He has 3-4 formula bottles a day. One at 6:00am, one at 10:30-11, one at 3:00-3:30 and one at 6:00-6:30. He sticks to his schedule on his own most of the time, but some times he sleeps through the 3:00 bottle and only eats his puree at 5:30.

Firsts: Green beans, sweet potatoes, drinking from a sippy cup (water), playing in the walker, sitting in a high chair at a restaurant, snow day, going to the nursery at church for the first time (Yes, it took me over 4 months to bring him and the only reason he went was because I was forced to since he wouldn't sit still during the service anymore. Over protective momma, I know!)

Liking: mama and daddy, swing, baby K'tan, tv, iPad, activity mat, Sophie the teething giraffe, jumperoo, high chair, bed, Aden and Anais blankets, bath time, dogs, high chair toys

Disliking: when mom has to get boogies out of his nose, eating baby food, being alone, sleeping on his back

a year ago today

One year ago today James and I went nervously to our first ultrasound. We were a nervous wreck and the day seemed to drag on forever. 3:45 finally arrived and we met at my doctors office. We sat in the dark room and the nurse put the cold, sticky gel on my belly and immediately a little bean popped on the scream. James clutched my hand as we sat there waiting for a heartbeat. We waited for what seemed like an eternity until the nurse pressed a button and the room was flooded with the most beautiful sound I had ever heard. Our baby's heartbeat. I was immediately overtaken with emotions and the tears started sliding down my cheek. I couldn't believe it. After a bit of trouble, a tiny little baby was finally growing in my belly. James jumped up and kissed me and all we could do was smile. It was everything we had ever wanted. It was our baby! After we left we headed to Buffalo Wild Wings in true James and Malary fashion for wings and a beer for the Daddy-to-be. I excitedly took out the pictures and just stared at our little bean.
One year later, as I stare at that beautiful baby sleeping I am so overwhelmed with happiness and joy. Cooper has brought us closer than I could have ever imagined and a love like no other. This boy is such a blessing in our lives and I thank God every single day for choosing me as his mother.
