a wedding and a birth

Hello!!!
This weekend has been quite eventful. I was a bridesmaid in my friend Rebecca's wedding AND our first nephew was born!

We spent Friday night and all day Saturday with the new couple. Friday was the rehearsal dinner, which was so cute! The grooms family held the dinner in the church hall and turned it into an italian restaurant. They served salad, spaghetti, garlic bread, and yummy deserts. It was so cute and personal.

On Saturday we did the whole wedding thing. Hair, make-up, etc. It was fun to be apart of a wedding and not be the bride. The wedding was beautiful and the couple looked so happy and in love.

Also Saturday was my sister-in-law's due date, which normally doesn't mean much because no one ever goes into labor on their due date, Right?? Well at 7am Saturday morning Jenny called to say her water had broken and she was in labor!!! We were totally shocked. And unfortunately we had the wedding and couldn't be at the hospital to help welcome our nephew into this amazing world. But let me tell you we were so excited and could not wait until today to head to Baton Rouge to see him. His poor mommy was in labor for 12 hours but at 6:18pm Judah Lee Gilbert made his arrival. He was 7 pounds 13 ounces and 18 1/2 inches long. He is absolutely beautiful and perfect in every way. We woke up at 6 am this morning and headed to Baton Rouge. We were just so excited we could not contain it! As soon as we got there we were able to hold him and love on him and the best part was that it was still early and it was just us and his parents in the room so we got plenty of time to enjoy our nephew! Unfortunately we had to leave at 12 to head home so James could get ready to leave for the week. We are so happy to have a new baby in the family and are so ready to spoil him rotten! I am already ready to go see him again!!

Judah and his MayMay and JJ

The cutie himself!!
How gorgeous is he?!?!

Our weekend was amazing and eventful but now it is time to hit the books because it is FINALS WEEK!
I am so excited to be finished with this semester on Wednesday! This has been so long of a semester and I am ready for a break.

precious moments with my poppy

Now that James and I are living with my grandparents I have had a lot of extra time to spend with them. On Sunday night I sat in the living room and talked to my grandfather for a while and he told me stories of his childhood and his life. It was one of those unplanned but absolutely amazing moments. Listening to his stories touched me more than he could ever understand. I have always been so close to him and he has been more of a father to me than a grandfather. I heard stories of his childhood before but this time just hit me so hard. As I laid in bed that night I thought back to that talk and realized how truly special that was and how I will never forget that talk.

Easter Fun

Our Easter weekend was really nice. We spent a lot of time with family and traveling of course. Saturday we went to my grandfathers for our family crawfish boil with my moms family. They were delicious and it was nice to spend time with everyone. On Sunday we woke up early and headed to Zachary for lunch with James' family. We always love getting to visit with his family since we don't see them very often. His grandparents are always so sweet and they always have funny stories to tell. After we left there we headed back to Lafayette to go to dinner at my moms house. We sat outside enjoying the weather and rocking in these huge rocking chairs they have. The one thing I miss about living at home is sitting outside and enjoying the weather. So after leaving there we finally got to head home and spend a few hours together before James left for Shreveport this morning. We watched We Bought a Zoo and it was totally cute!!! Unfortunately 5am came really fast and the Hubby headed off to work again =(

So that leads us to today.. Spring Break Day One! I spent the entire day reading The Hunger Games!!! I have been waiting to read it because everyone told me it was totally addicting and let me just say... they were right! It was so good and I couldn't put it down. After reading all day I finished it and now I can't wait to watch the movie! This weekend can't come fast enough so the hubs and I can go see it!!!!

Tomorrow is day two and i plan to go shopping and have girl time!!! This spring break is so nice and relaxing it would just be so much nicer if my husband was home to enjoy it with me.

Hope your Easter was just as nice as mine!!!

sleep vs. study

Instead of studying for a test I have tomorrow I am writing this!!! School has taken over my life and I have about reached my limit! I can't seem to make myself study anymore!!! So anyways I guess I will just tell you about our weekend...

Well first off during the week I made a rash decision to change my hair color!!! I have been thinking about going blonde but when i went I decided to just do it and lets just say that was a HUGE mistake!!! 10 hours of being in the salon and probably six dyes later... I hate blonde hair!!!! My red hair gave her a lot of trouble and it took forever to get it out and really damaged my hair!! I really wish I would have taken pictures every time because it was horrific!! For now I am a blonde and it isn't totally horrible but I doubt it will last, but hey live and learn right ?!?!

Friday night I worked!!!! For anyone who knows how my life has been lately knows I haven't worked much this semester!! So it was actually kind of a treat to work and make my own money Friday.

Saturday we had another lazy day. We slept in, went to Old Navy and Target, went to lunch, and came home and did homework all evening!!! I know it must sound boring but we love it!!!

And today we woke up and had coffee and we found another guilty pleasure!!! It's a show called GCB and it is totally inappropriate but we both actually laughed our buts off!!! After watching the first three episodes of that, I had to start getting ready. I am taking a theater class this semester and we are required to attend a play put on by the university. It was so long and boring and I was counting the minutes until I cold leave. The only good part was that I went with two friends and we got to keep each other entertained during the show! While I was at the play my hubby was packing to leave. =( They left today at 4 pm for another long week in Shreveport. When I got home I started "trying" to study but it is not going too well!! This week I have two tests, two lessons, two tutoring sessions, and a assignment in theater due!!! I am completely overwhelmed but I know I can get through it!! OH and I am hosting a couples shower Saturday for some friends!!!! (Yeah I know... I am CRAZY!!!!)

So I would have to say this was an eventful weekend and I am so ready for this up coming week to be over!!!!

2 weeks until spring break!!!!!! WOHOOOO!!!!

I think this is such a cute picture of us!!!!

I guess I should go study now.... OR go to sleep!!!!!

saturday love

Saturday was absolutely AMAZING!!!!!! I got to spend the entire day with my hubby. {Something that does not happen very often}. Our lives have been absolutely crazy lately with moving, work, school, and just life in general so when we found out we had nothing to do for the day we knew we had to make it extra special.

To start our perfect day off we slept late {well is 9:00 am late??}. Sleeping late is something of the past in this house. We always seem to have something that requires us to be up at the crack of dawn. And let me just say sleeping is one of my favorite things to do.

After finally getting ourselves dressed and ready we headed out for a fun filled day of being in love. We went to Barnes and Noble to get a book I needed for class and just walked around and looked at books. I have always loved reading and James has found a new love for it too. We had lunch at Izzo's Illegal Burrito {James' Fav} and stopped and bought Girl Scout cookies from a girl in a cookie costume on the side of the road. After that we headed to the zoo. Apparently my husband has never been to our local zoo and as a child it was one of my favorite places to go so we went there. It wasn't exactly what I remembered but it was still so nice to just be together  {even though we were the only ones there without kids!}.

The best part was that we both got to see our favorite animals! Mine is the giraffe and James loves the wolf.

We ended our amazing day off with dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, Longhorn Steakhouse. We had to wait an hour to get seated but neither of us seemed to even notice, we were just relaxing an enjoying each others company.

We ordered a ribeye and lobster and it was delicious!!!!!! And we even ordered desert to-go so we could come home and eat it and watch a movie.
Days like that just make me realize how awesome my husband is. Our lives are so crazy right now so the days we do get to spend being together are just extra special!
